2010 OIR Photo Contest Winners
The winners of the Ocracoke Island Realty 2010 Photo Contest have finally been chosen. There were at least 2200 entries and narrowing those down to 10 winners was a daunting task! There were so many great photos! A huge THANK YOU to all who sent entries! It was a pleasure to look through all of the pictures and share vacations and memories with you all!
Many of the entries will be featured in our 2011 Calendar and our 2011 brochure. Contest winners will receive a gift certificate for $100 off their next rental with Ocracoke Island Realty.

I'm a little disappointed. You all don't use a photographer to help choose the winners, do you?

We did not use a professional photographer as a judge. We usually choose random employees to help judge the contest along with input from other employees. The contest isn't so much about the quality of the photo as it is the content. We try to choose photos that capture Ocracoke...families on vacation, scenery, island locations, island activities, etc.
I am sorry you are disappointed with our choices but having seen all of the entries and knowing how hard it was to narrow them down to 10 winners I feel that the winners were well chosen and I think they are all great pictures.

Well, I came back to reply again. I'm sorry about my earlier comment. I guess I didn't understand your choice criteria. I wouldn't want to be the one to judge 2200 photos! Although, I was disappointed, any pictures of Ocracoke are good! The little girl with watermelon is especially great!

My favorites would be the lighthouse photo and the outerrondack chair. I thought the girls on the bikes photo captured life on Ocracoke really nicely.

Congratulations to the winners this year! These photographs are lovely and truly capture the spirit of Ocracoke Island. I am so glad Ocracoke Island Realty continues to do the photo contest. We enjoy being a part of it every year!
